:: Competitive Gymnastics
USA Gymnastics is the national governing body for the sport of gymnastics in the USA.  It gets this designation from the International Olympic Committee and the International Gymnastics Federation.  USA Gymnastics sets  the rules and policies that govern gymnastics in this country.  Training and selecting the U.S. Teams for the Olympics and World Championships are just two of the many responsibilities of USA Gymnastics

The ultimate step in the sport is to become a USA National Gymnastics Team member.  To become a member, a gymnast must first work on her way through a series of qualifying meets.  The preliminary meets range from USA Gymnastics-sanctioned competitions organized by private clubs, to state, regional and national qualification meets.  Each meet gives the athlete the opportunity to meet minimum qualification scores and/or placement requirements established by USA Gymnastics.  Gymnasts meeting the requirements are then eligible to compete in their respective U.S. National Championships, the most prestigious and significant competition of the year.

BOOST

The Booster Organization Of Shenandoah Tumblers is a non-profit Virginia corporation whose sole purpose is to support the competitive gymnastics team.  This is done by fundraising to offset meet expenses, volunteering to provide the much needed help at home meets and other functions.  BOOST members are made up of competitive team parents as well as recreational parents.  During the competitive season the BOOST membership meets on a regular basis to stay organized and make financial decisions for the team girls.  If you would like to be a part of this group, please see the front office for more information.

Competitive Gymnastics

This is a competitive team program that mainly derives from the recreational gymnastics program.  Young team groups are formed at an early age and develop the skills needed to compete at the local, state, regional, and national levels.  USA Gymnastics is the governing body that sets forth the rules and policies for competition.  Here at Shenandoah Tumblers, Inc. we begin competing our girls at level 4 and they then have the ability to advanced through the elite level of competition.  It is at this point where Olympic hopefuls and college gymnast are produced.  These girls can train as much as 17 hours per week during the competitive season and attend upwards of 15 competitions.  [Review our gym policies]
